Kasargod

Kasargod is the northernmost district of Kerala. With its forts and beautiful beaches, Kasargod stands out as a place of great historic significance. The numerous forts in the district remind the visitors of its fierce battles fought against the European invaders. Kasargod was the most important trade centre for Arabs during the 9th to 14th Centuries and was called Harkwillia, an important port city on the west coast of India.

Chandragiri Fort and Bekal fort are the two famous forts in Kasargod.

Bekal Fort

The Bekal Fort, which stands on an area of 35-acres and runs into the Arabian Sea, is the largest fort in the State.

Chandragiri

Chandragiri Cruises (Backwater) offer a magnificent view of the sun setting in the Arabian Sea. This township is known for its large 17th century fort built by Sivappa Naik of Bedanore. This fort is one of a chain of forts built by the same ruler and has a lot of historical significance.

Pallikere Beach

This shallow beach sprinkled with palm grooves offers a spectacular view of the Bekal fort, and has ample facilities for recreation and relaxation.

Valiyaparamba Backwater

Valiyaparamba Backwater is located 30 km from Bekal. Valiyaparamba is the most beautiful backwater stretch in Kerala India. Valiyaparamba backwaters is fed by four rivers. Also it is dotted with numerous little islands. For tourist accommodation, there are many resorts of our choice.

To Reach Kasaragod

The national highway NH -17 passes through the city. It is well connected by rail to different parts of Kerala, such as Trivandrum, Kochi, Calicut, & Cannanore. It is also connected to Mangalore, Goa, Surat, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Jammu Tawi, Kanyakumari, etc. The nearest Airport is at Mangalore (49km).

The best time to visit this area is between August to March.
