Malampuzha

The main attraction of Malampuzha in Palakkad is it has the longest river Bharathapuzha running through its land and the biggest dam in Kerala-the Malapuzha dam.The main tourist place in Palakkad district is Malampuzha.There is a beautiful garden near the dam. The rope way near the dam is really enthralling. A boating through the dam gives a thrilling experience.

Apart from the dam ,the main attractions are the amusement parks near by. Malampuzha is located 10Kms from the Palakkad town. Its reachable through road from the town.

Malampuzha Garden

The Malampuzha Garden near the dam is the most beautiful garden of that type in Kerala. It is really blended with the beauty of the river, mountains surrounding ,lush green lawns, water fountains and the statue of a Yakshi (a mythological character) in stone. There is also a hanging bridge across the garden from where you will get a closer look of the water coming out of the spiilway of the dam.

The reservoir & The Garden House

The reservoir has amusement facilities for tourists. It includes boating and fishing. Pedal boats, rowboats, water scooters and motorboats could be hired. There is also a well maintained swimming pool there.

Aquarium & Snake Park

A fish shaped huge aquarium is opened for the visitors. For children there is a toy train which travels and covers almost the whole garden and its vicinity.

The Passenger Ropeway

One of the main attractions of the garden is the passenger Ropeway. It is the first of its Kind it the entire south Indiaâ€™s entire journey is about 20 minutes. From there you can watch the garden, the dam, distant hills etc. It is really a thrilling and joyful experience traveling in the ropeway.

Thread Garden

The thread garden is the result of the years of handwork of several laborers without the aid of any special equipment .It has an abundant collection of models of flowers and plants beautifully arranged. It is housed in a large indoor glass chamber. Its near the amusement park.

The Rock Garden

Another astonishing piece of art to be appreciated in Malapuzha is the rock garden. The whole place is being made of pieces of tiles, cans and other unwanted and broken items.
