Walking along the coconut fringed seashores of Malapppuram gives you exquisite pleasure as these places are noted for its natural beauty. There are a lot more to charm the visitors here. Nilambur is very famous for its teak plantations. The oldest teak in the world is believed to be in Nilambur .This teak is called Kannimari.This teak plantation is spread over 2.31 hectares. The oldest surviving tribe of Kerala- Cholainnickans live here in the forest which is besides the river Chaliyar.

There is a teak museum located here which is run by the Forest Research Institute.

Eighteen Kilometers from Nilambur there is a rich rain forest abundant in jungle life. From the cottage that was built during the British time,visitors can view animals especially elephants and deer roaming. Here there is an elephant training center also.

Nilambur town was once the favorite residence of kings or rajas. Even now one could view these residences called Kovilakom.These Kovilakoms contain splendid Art works in wood and famous paintings.

It is one of the oldest ports of Kerala. Its the place where two rivers Bharatapuzha and Tirupuzha meet the Arabian Sea. During seasons a large number of migratory birds are seen here. The main tourist destination here is Padinjarekkara beach. Private boating services and small floating cafes are also available.
